Cloth & Leather
Border and color options vary by weave and not all options are available for every weave. The amount of border that shows on the face of the rug ranges from 1" to 3 1/2" and does not add to the width of your rug.
Cotton
Cotton is a soft, natural fiber border option that is best for indoor use. Multiple colors are available to finish your custom area rug.
Polyester
Polyester is a man-made synthetic textile that looks similar to natural cotton. This border option is slightly smoother to the touch than cotton and is easy to clean.
Linen
Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant and makes a lovely border on custom area rugs. Like cotton, it is natural but has a more textural feel.
Leather & Faux
Both natural and faux leather borders have a dull shine, mild texture, and feel soft to the touch. Leather wears well over time, showing a sophisticated look.
Serged Edge
A continuous wrap of yarn around the edge of your rug, either by hand or by machine. Machine serged has a finished width of approximately 3/8".
Serged Edge
Serging is a continuous wrap of yarn around the edges of the rug that binds the fibers and keeps the weave from unraveling. The yarn is chosen to match the color of your rug as well as the fiber.
Circular Serged Edge
Serging is a sleek finish for a circular rug that binds the fibers and keeps the rug from unraveling. The yarn is chosen to match the color and fiber type of the rug.
Hand Serge
A beautiful hand-sewn finish that secures the edges of an area rug and creates a minimalist look. Allow extra production time for hand serging.
Color Splash Serge
Colorful cotton yarns create a vibrant frame around the edges of our Livos sisal weave with Color Splash Serge. Choose from twelve different colors to finish your Color Splash custom rug.
Unique Border Options
Jute Braid
Maximize the textural, chunky beauty of jute with a jute braid border. Available on select jute weaves, it adds a stand-out, designer finish to custom jute area rugs in residential spaces.
Cut Edge
Sleek, minimalist, tidy—a cut edge is all that. tretford® Roll has a unique construction that allows the carpet to be cleanly cut without fraying. A simple yet sturdy finish for residential or commercial spaces.
Corners
Binding corners may be lapped or mitered, with either a top stitch or hidden stitch, depending on the specific rug.
Mitered Top Stitch
A mitered corner is stitched at a 45° angle and the stitching is visible along the interior edge of the cloth border.
Mitered Hidden Stitch
A mitered corner is stitched at a 45° angle and the stitching is invisible or hidden along the interior edge of the cloth border.
Lapped Corner Hidden Stitch
The cloth border overlaps at a 90° angle and all stitching is invisible or hidden.
Lapped Corner Top Stitch
The cloth border overlaps in the corner at a 90° angle and visible stitching lines the interior edges of the cloth border.
